My mom is having a hysterectomy right now...

my mom is having a hysterectomy right now and I am on the other stide of the world just wondering if she is okay... :( Anyone else out there who had one? She said she is going to be in the hospital for 2 days and then stuck in her apartment (she isn't supposed to go up or down the stairs) for 4-6 weeks. Is it really that intense of a procedure? I've always thought they were pretty common. It surprises me that she will be so restricted for so long...
